Step 1. I have found this book 'The innovation zone' in Library Search, now how do I get it?
If you are on the results page you might see a list of results. You will need to click on the title of the book or the link that shows where the book is available. Either one will take you to the next screen, which is the details page of the book.
Step 2. I'm on the book details page, now what?
Check to see if the book is on your campus, and that it is showing as Available. If it is available, you can go directly to the Library, find the book on the shelf and take it to the check out.
If this book is not on your campus or is out on loan, you can request it. Requesting a book means it will be sent to your campus for you to pick up from the Library.
If you're a distance student, you can request the book and it will be sent to your home address.
First, to request a book, you need to log in. If you don't log in, you can't request.
Use your CQUniversity username and password to log in.
Step 3. I've logged in and now I can see the Request. I've clicked on this and now there's another screen.
Good. If you can see the Request link, click on it and go to step 5. If you've logged in and you can't see a Request link, go to step 4.
Step 4. I've logged in and there's no request link to click, what's going on?
Books in high demand are set as Short Term Loans or Class Set Loans. These items can only be borrowed (and requested) by students enrolled at that campus where the book is located. A Short Term Loan book in the Distance Library can be requested and borrowed only by a distance student.
If you can’t see the blue Request Link to click, it means you’re not entitled to request that book as you are not studying on that campus where the book is held.
All books from the general collection can be requested by any student, no matter which campus you are located at.
Step 5. OK, I've clicked REQUEST, now what do I need to fill in on this page?
You will need to select the campus where you will collect the book - this is the pickup location. If you are a distance student, you can select Personal Delivery from the dropdown menu. You don't need to enter any further information, unless you wish to add a comment.
Once you have chosen your pick-up location, then click on REQUEST.
The Library staff will find the book for you.
When you come to the Library you will need your student card to check out the book.
You can always check your online Library Card to see if your requests has been sent and where you are in the queue.
If you are still unsure about how to request a book, contact TASAC.
