Framing your research question

Question frameworks are used to help you turn your research question into the searches you will need for databases and search engines

ProPheT is used to frame questions for qualitative research assessing complex interventions.

  • Which problem, disease or condition are you looking at?
  • Are there any defining characteristics of your population that you need to include when describing the problem? (e.g. age, gender, ethnic group …)
Phenomenon of interest
  • Which related behaviour, issue or circumstance are you investigating your populations' attitudes to, and/or experiences of?
  • What is the relevant timeframe? (e.g. duration of treatment, within a set time from the date of diagnosis, ...)
