Opening Hours

Mackay City Campus Library

Accessing the library space

The Mackay City campus library is on the Ground Floor of Building 3. It can be accessed:

Monday to Friday: 6.00 am to 9.50 pm

You will need an access swipe card to enter the library (via Room G.22 - After-hours Study Lab) outside service hours. Please ensure you leave the building before the alarms are automatically activated at 10.00 pm.

You can obtain an access swipe card from Reception in Building 1 between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday. It can take 24-48 hours before your card is activated.

If you have trouble with campus access, please phone Security on 0418 792 982.

In-person library and technology support

You can get in-person assistance at the library desk during our staffed hours:

Monday to Friday: 9.00 am to 5.00 pm

Borrowing and returning print books

The print collection is available whenever the library is accessible.

You can borrow books using the self-check machine. You will need your student ID card to borrow.

You can return books using the returns bin in front of the desk during service hours, or the returns chute near the door to Room G.22 outside service hours. Please be aware it may take longer for books to be processed and removed from your library account, as we are quarantining items to ensure the safety of students and staff.

If you are unable to come to the campus due to Covid-19, you can request items only available in print via Library Search and have them delivered to your home address within Australia. Students will be provided a prepaid envelope to return the items. This service is free, courtesy of the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). You will also be provided additional loan days for transit time.

Using study rooms

Study rooms can be booked by current students and staff for 2 hours per day. Check availability and book online.

Accessing online books, journal articles and other resources

Students and staff can access the Library's online services and collections any time. You can explore the extensive range of eBooks and eJournals via Library Search.
