Referencing YouTube and online videos with APA

Elements of a reference for an online video:

  1. Author (s) followed by Year of Publication (in brackets) .
  2. Web Page/video Title . Should be italicized.
  3. Date retrieved
  4. Sponsoring Web Site
  5. URL
  6. Place of origin (followed by a colon):
  7. Studio producing the video/dvd

Hint: Often correct details for referencing items can be found on the Library Catalogue record.

 

Examples: For videos provide the author only if you are sure that person created the video. Do not list the person posting the video online as the author. If you are unsure, treat the citation as having no author.

 

No composer/author:
