CQUni Library COVID-19

CQUni Library services during COVID-19

CQUniversity continues to closely monitor the situation regarding COVID-19 and will ensure that we take the most appropriate action based on advice from relevant government departments and health authorities. Below is important information regarding changes to CQUni Library services.

Accessing library services online

The good news is that our extensive online collections are still available 24/7. Use Library Search to explore and access a wide range of resources for your online learning - from electronic textbooks and readings resources for your courses. Our online databases and other digital materials for assessments and general research are also just a click away from the Library homepage anytime you need them.

Our librarians are online and ready to assist with finding the information you need for your assignments, improving your search skills or accessing the readings and texts for your units.

The Library also provides quick help guides:

  • View this Library Search help guide for more information about how to use Library Search
  • Check our guides for key books, journals and databases to find articles and specialised resources for your subject

Campus Libraries

All CQUni campus libraries remain open if the campus is open, however some libraries have reduced service hours. For up to date information about your local campus library, view the opening hours pages.

If you choose to visit Library spaces at this time, please apply the recommended hygiene and social distancing measures we have implemented to adhere to government guidance to help limit the spread of any illness:

  • If you are unwell, stay at home.
  • Wear a face mask.
  • Germs spread easily. Cough or sneeze into the inside of your elbow or into a tissue. Remember to dispose of the tissue immediately.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water regularly.
  • Check on those around you. If you notice a friend or colleague on campus who is not well, suggest they go home to rest.
  • Keep at least 1.5 metres away from others.
  • Seek advice and treatment from a medical professional if you experience a high fever.
  • Make your physical and mental health a priority. Remember to exercise and eat a well-balanced diet and find time to relax and unwind from the stresses of everyday life.

Borrowing physical items changes

Can I still borrow items from the Library in person?

Yes, most campus book collections are open for in-person browsing and/or borrowing. Please check the service hours for your campus library for up-to-date information.

For students on campuses where the book collection is not available, or if you are unable to come to the campus for Covid-19 reasons, you can request items that are only available in print to be sent to your preferred address. We may not be able to fulfill all requests, and will let you know if there are any issues.

Can I still borrow items from the Library and have them posted to me?

Yes, you can still request items via Library Search and have them posted to your preferred address.

Can I still return items to the Library?

Yes, you can still either return items in person (unless the campus is closed) or post them back to us as usual.

What if I can’t return an item on time?

If an item you have on loan is required to be returned you will receive an email to your CQUni student email account or an SMS. Reply to this email or contact us with the reason why you are unable to return your library item and we will work with you on a solution.

Why is an item I returned still on my library card online record?

To reduce the potential risk of spreading of COVID-19, when an item is returned we are placing it in quarantine so it may take a little longer to check in off your library account.
