Using this guide

This guide provides you with referencing examples of the most popular types of Performing arts resources, in particular music, using the APA Referencing style.

Referencing is an important part of writing university assignments. It shows the breadth of your research and directs readers to the source of your information.

Use the tabs across the top of the guide to learn how to reference the following specific resource formats:

  • Music Scores
  • Audio Cds
  • DVDs and Videos
  • YouTube and Online videos
  • Librettos
  • Books
  • Academic journal articles
  • Websites

The reference list provides the information necessary to identify and retrieve each resource. As with a bibliography, resources in a reference list are arranged according to the prescribed referencing style.

The APA Guide will provide more specific examples of how to reference a variety of other resources. By using referencing appropriately you will avoid plagiarism. An abridged guide (with examples) of the APA referencing style is also available.
