Literature Review Tutorial

These pages have been developed by staff at CQUniversity to help postgraduate students conceptualize, research and write a literature review. The pages are intended as a guide and it is the responsibility of the supervisor to give advice.

Positioning the literature review

Aim to:

  • understand and clarify the relationships between your research and the discipline/s
  • place and justify your research within the discipline/s
  • understand the existing literature and how it relates /supports/contradicts your topic

Research may draw on the knowledge, culture, methodology and theories of a number of disciplines. Interdisciplinary ideas need to be discussed with your supervisor(s).
